Living in Ciudad Quesada: Bars, Restaurants, Beaches, Leisure and Schools (2026)

A warm, practical guide to Ciudad Quesada in Rojales: where to eat and drink, the five beaches locals actually drive to, golf and family days out, and how schooling works if you are moving with children.

If you have ever driven the CV-905 between Torrevieja and Rojales, you have probably passed Ciudad Quesada without quite realising it was there. It does not announce itself with a seafront or a cathedral. It is a large, established residential area on the edge of the Vega Baja — and that is exactly why so many people who buy here tell us they never want to leave.

This guide is an honest look at what is on your doorstep: where to eat and drink, which beaches to drive to, what to do with a free Saturday, and how schooling works if you are moving with children.

Where Ciudad Quesada actually is

Ciudad Quesada is not a town in its own right. It forms part of the municipality of Rojales, in the south of Alicante province, and has grown up in phases: residential streets, commercial spines, denser housing in places and detached villas in others [1]. Rojales presents Ciudad Quesada, Doña Pepa, Pueblo Bravo and Lo Pepín as a group of urbanisations tied to residential tourism, which matters practically when you deal with the padrón, local taxes, licences or the town hall [1].

That administrative detail is worth knowing before you buy: compare houses by sector and by the daily drive, not just by the price on the card [1].

Bars and restaurants

For its size, Ciudad Quesada punches well above its weight. The TripAdvisor listing for the area carries 64 restaurants and more than 11,000 reviews [5] — a decent sign that eating out here is a year-round habit rather than a summer add-on.

A few names that appear in the Michelin guide's own restaurant listings for the area [4]:

  • Goyos — Ciudad Quesada, rated around 9.5, roughly €20 a head

  • Mister's Singh — Ciudad Quesada, rated around 9.7, roughly €15

  • Botánico — Ciudad Quesada, roughly €32

  • RAMË Restaurant and Cocktails Bar at La Marquesa Golf — Rojales, around 9.2, roughly €19

  • Triple Brew — Rojales, around 9.5, roughly €23

Treat those as guide prices only: the ViaMichelin listings show an approximate spend, not fixed menus [4]. Menus and opening days also change out of season, so it is always worth ringing ahead in the quieter months.

Beaches

The coast is closer than people expect. Guardamar del Segura and La Mata sit roughly nine kilometres away [2], and the beaches most of our clients use are all a 15–20 minute drive [3]:

  • Playa de Guardamar — fine golden sand, dunes, shallow water, Blue Flag, and a long promenade with restaurants, toilets, sunbeds and showers [3]

  • Playa de La Mata — around 3 km of golden sand, calm water, lifeguards, beach bars and a long seafront walkway [3]

  • Playa Moncayo — the quiet one, between Guardamar and La Mata, with sand dunes and a classic chiringuito [3]

  • Playa del Cura — Torrevieja's urban beach, full services and cafés a few steps from the sand [3]

  • Playa de los Locos — longer and more relaxed, a mix of sand and rock [3]

Parking is mostly free apart from Guardamar's blue zones, and the tip we pass on most often is to arrive before 11am in high season [3].

Leisure: golf, water slides and long lunches

La Marquesa Golf is the anchor. It opened in 1989, designed by Justo Quesada as the Quesada Golf Club, and its 18 holes include a replica of the famous 17th at Sawgrass; Miguel Ángel Jiménez is an honorary member [9]. The club publishes its 2026 season passes and tournament calendar online [9], so if golf is part of the plan, check the current offers before you commit.

Families head to Aquopolis Torrevieja, a water park with more than 20 attractions [10]. It runs a summer season — the park's own site is currently showing the season closed, with 2027 news to come — and online tickets were advertised from €19.95 (reduced) and €21.95 (general admission) [10].

Schools

This is the question we are asked most, so here is the honest answer.

Ciudad Quesada has its own international options. Willow International School is a UK National Curriculum school based in Ciudad Quesada, taking children from Reception (ages 3–5) through Key Stages 1–4 to a Sixth Form with A-Levels, teaching in English with Spanish language learning alongside [6]. Its 2024 inspection, carried out by Penta International on behalf of the British government, was rated Outstanding [6].

Also in Ciudad Quesada, at Avda. de Castilla 38b, is Den Norske Skolen i Rojales, an officially approved Norwegian school for grades 1 to 13 [7].

A short drive away, Phoenix International School in San Miguel de Salinas follows the British National Curriculum for ages three to eighteen, in classes usually no more than fifteen pupils, inspected by NABSS and registered with Pearson/Edexcel [8].

For Spanish state schooling, places are allocated through the local authority. We could not confirm the current Rojales school list or the 2026/27 term dates from an official source while writing this, so please check with the Ayuntamiento de Rojales and the Conselleria d'Educació directly before you fix a moving date.

What the weather actually does

Long-term NASA averages for the area give an annual mean of about 18.3°C and only around 342 mm of rain a year, with August the hottest month (average 26.3°C) and June the sunniest [11]. That is why the terraces fill up in February as readily as in July.
